Recover Your R&D Tax Credit

Inc. Magazine 5000 List The U.S. offers some of the world’s richest R&D tax incentives, but chances are you’re not taking advantage of them and getting the cash you deserve. As the pace of your business accelerates and competition increases, you may be more likely to overlook this source of cash because you lack the time, resources or expertise needed to identify and manage R&D tax credit claims. The new regulations are in harmony with the intent of Congress and are much more taxpayer friendly.

Designing for Manufacturability

3DSUG
This fall, Boeing announced plans to build an assembly line for the 787 Dreamliner in South Carolina. The new commercial-plane factory will be located in North Charleston. In a statement South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford said, "The decision represents not only enormously good news for our state's economy, but also a telling dividend from our state's continued efforts to better our business climate." Those of us who live and work here could not agree more as we watch South Carolina become a major hub for rapid prototyping and manufacturing.

VIRTUAL REALLITY

The 3D/VR Center at SiMT is one of only six Interactive Digital Centers in the world. Specializing in the design, development and implementation of 3D/Virtual Reality business solutions for sales, marketing, prototyping and manufacturing, the center works with business and industry to develop immersive and interactive user experiences. The 3D/VR Center can create virtual prototypes, allowing engineers and industrial designers to evaluate new products prior to building a 3D model. Clients can design in CAD, review prototypes (virtually) and then order rapid prototype models (SLA and SLS) to test form, fit and function. Virtual Reality is the next generation product development solution for companies looking for advanced technologies and processes as they speed new products to market.

ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

“Methods of additive manufacturing are creating new markets for limited-edition and one-of-a-kind products,” said Terry Wohlers, principal author of Wohlers Report 2009 and president of Wohlers Associates. “Additive manufacturing is causing some companies and individuals to rethink the way products are developed and brought to market. A new type of manufacturer is emerging that is not operating from a traditional manufacturing facility.” The study was created with support from 54 co-authors, 65 service providers, 29 system manufacturers, and many others worldwide. To support the review and analysis, the report includes 31 charts and graphs, 45 tables, and 154 photographs and illustrations. The softbound report sells for $475 in the U.S. and $495 in all other countries.
