SiMT's Rapid Prototyping Center Adds Portable Laser Scanning to Lineup of Services and Capabilities

The portable scanning system is available for use at SiMT or any customer location.

FLORENCE, SOUTH CAROLINA / January 7, 2009 –SiMT Rapid Prototyping Center (RPC), a service provider of 3-D Modeling, Stereolithography (SLA®) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS®)technologies, today announced the addition of the Platinum FaroArm®and FARO Laser ScanArm® V3 systems to its facility in South Carolina.

"We decided to offer laser scanning services in order to meet the needs of a wider range of our customers' applications - specifically those customers in industries such as aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, foundries and medical," said RPC service technician Jonathan Wilke.

"The Platinum FaroArm® and FARO Laser ScanArm® V3 offer advanced portable 3D measurement solutions. The Platinum FaroArm® is one of the most widely used portable CMM devices used in manufacturing today. The system enhances production, quality and reverse engineering processes by rapidly verifying or scanning parts with accuracy. The FARO Laser ScanArm® V3 offers several advantages in conjunction with the Platinum FaroArm®. For example, improved service scanning and higher performance when scanning dark or reflecting surfaces.
