"Welcome and Special Invite to Objet Geometries!" |
As our User Group evolves, it's important that we present and discuss new applications and technologies to our members as well as Hands On Training with 3DSUG Certificates of Completion. One of the exciting new technologies that will be presented and displayed this year is 3D Printing from Objet Geometries. Some of you have this technology and understand its many benefits from ease of use to the award winning Digital Materials™ system known as Connex500™. Check out our updated agenda to get a flavor of this year's great presentations.
As a User, I ask you spread the word about our Conference. We have one of the lowest cost Vendor Fairs around and look to many of our Users to help Sponsor the conference to keep our registration costs low. I personally want to thank our past and present Sponsors for their support. I want to especially thank Objet Geometries for their Sponsorship and participation this year. Register early for the Conference!Brian Bauman, DSM Somos & 2009 3DSUG Chairperson

Getting Around Daytona Beach |
|

Well it is January 15, 2009 and I wish everyone a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. It is hard to believe that the Conference is only 60 days away. I know travel for some might be difficult or even impossible however since we are offering so much training and Certificates of Completion I am hoping your Management will send you. If anyone needs a Letter of Justification, please contact Brian Bauman at chairperson@3dsug.org. With the soft economy, it is more critical than ever to really talk up the Conference, search out new and old Users alike as well as vendors and sponsor, and convince them to attend.
I spoke with Francis, the owner of King Transportation and she is willing to give us a set rate on transportation to and from the Daytona Beach Airport. The price quoted is $16 each way for one person or $20 per vehicle (car or van) so if you are traveling with others it will be a benefit. Gratuity is not included so please do not forget to tip your driver. If you are interested in using King Transportation e-mail Francis at yellowcabking@msn.com. Please e-mail her the following information:
- NAME
- DATE OF ARRIVAL
- TIME OF ARRIVAL
- AIRLINE
- FLIGHT NUMBER
- CONTACT PHONE NUMBER
Just the standard reminder that the Awards Banquet maybe inside, outside or both so please dress accordingly. I would also like to remind everyone to make your Hotel reservations now and cancel them if you have to later. This will not only guarantee you a room, but also the $125 rate.
See you there!

D-MEC First Japanese Customer of Materialise' e-Stage Software for Automated Support Generation
Yokohama (JAPAN), January 6th, 2009. The Japanese office of Materialise NV, world leader in software development for the rapid prototyping and manufacturing (RP&M) industry, hails D-MEC as the first Japanese customer of its revolutionary and highly intelligent e-Stage software. e-Stage automates the work preparation process when generating support structures, eliminating all manual editing, and also helps save on resin, finishing time and build time.
D-MEC holds its headquarters in Tokyo and has a technical center in Tsukuba, the heart of R&D in Japan. It is a subsidiary of JSR, a renowned manufacturer of advanced materials, and a major supplier of stereolithography resin. D-MEC was a vendor of 'Solid Creation System' (SCS) machines, formerly produced by Sony Manufacturing Systems. In addition, they have recently developed a micro-stereolithography machine that can achieve resolutions within 2 microns.
D-MEC has now acquired Materialise' e-Stage software for the generation of support structures, hence becoming the first e-Stage customer in Japan. "e-Stage has clearly proven to increase our productivity thanks to a drastic decrease in support design time and time spent on support verification", says Mr. Takiya, Director of D-MEC. "e-Stage has also decreased post processing effort thanks to easy-to-remove support structures." The e-Stage software not only automates prep work, reducing it to 'a push on the button' and eliminating the need for processing the support structures manually, it also optimizes the manufacturing process. Its excellent support structures guarantee shorter production times and lower resin consumption.
e-Stage offers the added benefit of reduced time spent on the overall project. The supported model can be removed more efficiently from the platform and the support structures can be removed more quickly and easily from the model. Both save a lot of time. The unique new connection between the supports and the component substantially cuts the time required for model post-processing.
About Materialise Materialise Industrial Software develops innovative software applications for enabling and optimising the advanced use of rapid prototyping (RP), tooling and manufacturing techniques. Whether it's STL file handling and manipulation, preparation for rapid prototyping, tool design, file optimisation for CAE, design optimisation or even reverse engineering, our software equips customers to accomplish their most challenging tasks with ease. Materialise Software offers a wide range of activities applicable in a variety of markets and industries. Its SDS department develops customised, integrated software applications. Our highly automated solutions boost efficiency and reduce lead-times, resulting in increased productivity within entire processes.
